What is the purpose of this life? Why am I here? What's the point of living and dying? What is the point of this world?
If you've ever wondered any of the above questions, or ones similar to them, this post is for you! Sometimes this life feels mundane and like there is no point in living it. I want to look at why this earth was created and the purpose of it!
God created this world so that we as humans could have fellowship with Him! In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve even walked with God Himself! (Genesis 3:8) We were created because God wanted (not needed!) us. He loves us so very much and wants to have a relationship with us. We're His friends.
If that doesn't sum up the purpose of this life, I don't know what does. But there's even more!
When sin entered the world, people began turning away from God. If you look around this world today, you know it's in a state of chaos with many people that don't believe in God. At all. We as Christians, those who DO believe in God, are called to tell the unbelievers about God and His saving power. (Mark 16:15) God has commanded us to do that, and it should be one of our main endeavors in life.
But God didn't create us just for those things. He created us to enjoy life and the beauty He has created! He wants us to explore the world, have fun with our friends, and enjoy simple pleasures.
"Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage."
So our life is meant to bring glory to His name. Whether it is by praising Him, mentoring a young Christian, or hanging out with friends, do it all for Him.
That is the purpose of this life.
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all."
