I had my Easter post all planned out earlier this week for this awesome collab (check the end of the post for links to the other posts!). But yesterday morning, being Black Friday, I was reading about Jesus' death in my Bible. And the phrase "It is finished" really stood out to me. I couldn't shake it and the other post didn't feel right anymore. So due to God's prompting, here I am writing about that little but powerful phrase.
What comes to mind when you think of something being finished? It's done. Complete. There is no work left to be done. That's exactly what Jesus meant. In case you don't know the context, Jesus said this right before He "yielded up His spirit" or, in other words, died. His earthly ministry was over, and His job of taking on all the sin of the world was complete. The agony He had dreaded was over. The separation between Him and His Father was finished.
So what does that mean for us? Because He completed His mission, instead of giving up and having "legions of angels" come and rescue Him, we are forgiven. We have an invitation to Paradise. We have hope. We are alive. We have life, and it is abundant. All because He finished what He came to do and redeemed us! Isn't that amazing? He took our place, Him being perfect, and died a sinner's death.
Whatever trial you're going through now can be placed at His feet because it is finished. He is faithful. I love what Katelyn said in her blog post, "When Jesus died, He was thinking of you and when He said, “It is finished,” heaven spoke those very words over every battle that you will face."
But that's not even the end of the story. Jesus didn't just complete His purpose and stay dead. Sunday was coming. He rose again. He's alive! We can enter into a relationship with Him and have communion with Him for eternity! That is hope. Do you have that hope?
I hope you all have a fantastic Easter! Don't forget to check out the blog posts linked below from some amazing ladies! I also included their Instagram usernames so you can check out their rad accounts. I am so blessed to have been able to participate in this collab ❤️
