Hey y'all! I had the chance to interview Madison from mondaysbymaddy.weebly.com. It's actually a little collab with her. She'll be posting an interview she did of me in the near future, so keep an eye out for that! I'll let you know when she posts it on my Instagram story. Enjoy!
Hello my lovelies! My name is Madison Fenzl and I'm a freshman in college this year! I started a blog this year mondaysbymaddy.weebly.com and I post every Monday. I love Jesus, photography, dance, and my kindergarten Sunday school class I help. I also love Allison so treat her well! I have 3 Instagram accounts (I admit I have a problem.. I used to have 6) one is my Christian account where I met this lovely beauty @sugarandChrist, I also have a photography account @fenzlphotography and lastly my personal account is @madisonfenzl.
1. How old were you when you got saved?
I was in 8th grade when I accepted Jesus into my heart. It was during a Disciple Now weekend at my church and I was baptized along side some of my church friends!
2. Where were you and what do you remember about asking Jesus into your heart?
I was in my bedroom (at the time I shared with my twin sister; the weekend of D-Now) and I remember waking up and realizing something was wrong in my life. I remember praying the prayer and pouring out my heart to God. After that prayer, I remember feeling renewed and feeling like nothing else mattered except the One who saved me.
3. What is your go-to book to read in the Bible?
My go-to-book has to be Colossians, James or Ephesians. The Lord loves to use the verses to convict me and change me for His Glory sake. My favorite verse right now is James 1:19 (it's also the verse I have on my insta: @sugarandchrist (shameless self promo )) and it says "Let every man be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger." It reminds me to be cautious with my words and to listen to others (My struggle is similar to my grandma.. sometimes it seems like she's fallen down and can't shut up! But I love her so it doesn't matter!).
4. Who is your role model? Why?
I have many role models, but the main one is my mom. My mom is the kindest, wisest and most beautiful woman I have ever known. Even though her mom and her siblings don't acknowledge her or thank her much, she still tries so hard to make everyone happy and works so hard to help her mom. I admire her so very much for it! She isn't treated with the most respect from her family (she gets ignored, overlooked and yelled at for random things that aren't her fault like her mom not getting her meds and bills and the ever-popular "PAM! WHERE'S BLAH BLAH"). But she shows God's love and a servant's heart, and that is why she is my role model.
5. What are your quiet time essentials? When and where do you do your quiet time?
I love using my Jesus Calling devotional. It's a great way to get in God's word every morning and start the day off right! I also use my Bible that was given to me for my 11th birthday, highlighters, a journal and LOTS of colored pens! I love it when God convicts me and talks straight to me. I love journaling about what God's doing in my life and doodling Bible verses.
6. What is a gift you believe God has given you to further His kingdom?
God's given me the gift of patience and understanding towards kids and the gift of empathy.
7. What is the hardest thing you've been through, and how did it change you?
Three weeks ago, I lost my grandpa. He was and will always be one of the best people I know (actually probably my all time favorite (sorry Cait)) It's been hard but I have actually drawn closer to God in the process! I love God and can now stand firm and say I trust God with my life and HE has a greater and better plan than I ever will! He is the best and He is my anchor through it all!
8. When is one time you said yes to the #calltocourage?
I believe the level of courage is a person's opinion. It may take the same amount of courage for one person to go bungee jumping and one to kill a spider. I displayed courage when I went and got my license. I have been terrified to drive and I was so scared to take the test (I got it this year after I turned 18 in December) but with God by my side I passed with flying colors!
9. What is your opinion on modesty?
Modesty is a very common thing lots of girls ask me on almost a day to day basis on my account. Although you want to show off what God gave you, you should also keep in mind you should save some of that for your husband. I'm not gonna tell you how you should or should not dress, but there are certain things that you should avoid: too much cleavage & too much leg (booty shorts). I'm not saying you have to wear turtlenecks and jeans all the time, on the contrary I've been wearing tank tops and shorts all summer long! You don't want to show off your body when you should be showing God's love. You are God's masterpiece. God made you for your future husband's eyes only. The attention and attraction should come from the good you do in God's name rather than the clothes you wear.
10. What led you to create a Christian account?
I was led on August 14th, 2014 to post a picture of a Christian quote after hearing my youth pastor talk about the importance of sharing your faith every where you go. I eventually turned my account of random stuff into a Christian account after falling in love with making edits and sharing my faith with the internet people!
I just love Madison! She is super sweet and fun to talk to. I hope you enjoyed this interview!
Hey y'all! I had the privilege to interview Rebekah Baird from Hello Modesty! You can find her on Instagram here, and you can go to her blog here.
Hey wonderful friends, I'm Rebekah Baird from the great state of Texas. I come from a crazy-fun, big family! I am a follower of Jesus and a lover of good books, music, coffee and fashion! I run an adorable modest fashion blog encouraging girls to dress with style and class. My fun blog is called hellomodesty.com. I share some awesome modest, style inspiration every week.
1. What is the definition of modesty in your own words?
"Modesty is more than just wearing "modest" clothes and covering up your body. It's actually a picture of the gospel. Our clothes reflect our Creator. Back in the garden days, Adam and Eve were naked and without shame. Once they sinned, that all changed. They were no longer perfect. Christ gave clothes to Adam and Eve to symbolize their rebellion against Himself. Now, clothes still symbolize our original rebellion against God. We wear clothes in obedience to God's act in the garden. Clothes point to a bigger picture. They point to Christ! We should strive for modesty to honor God."
2. Why is modesty important to you?
"Modesty is important to me because I want to honor Christ with the body he gave me."
3. When did you begin realizing modesty was important to you?
"I have always grown up knowing about modesty, but only embraced it as my own in the last few years. As I got older, I really wanted to embrace modesty, realizing that it had more to do with the gospel than myself. Christ has shown me the importance of dressing modestly and the value of it."
4. What is your go-to modest outfit?
"Since I live in Texas, the summers can get quite hot. So, I have found that bermuda shorts are a great go-to for me. They're very easy, modest and totally adorable. I buy all my shorts from Old Navy. They have a great selection. I usually try to spice up an outfit like that with a feminine top and some fun sandals."
5. What are your tips on staying modest in this immodest world?
"Modesty is so overrated in our modern culture. People don't value it anymore. As a girl trying to honor Christ in the way I dress, it can be discouraging when modesty is "old-fashioned" or "out-of-style". What many people don't realize is that modesty and style can go hand-in-hand. That's why I started Hello Modesty...I want to inspire Christian girls to dress modestly while looking totally adorable in the process!"
6. What are your tips on staying modest during the hot summer months?
"I don't do a lot of layering in the summer because it just gets too hot. Wearing really fun shirts and shoes with basic jeans is a super easy way to stay cool and stylish in the summer."
7. What would you say to any girl wondering if they should begin to dress modestly?
"Modesty is a beautiful and wonderful thing for girls. It really expresses a humble heart before Christ. He is our creator and should get all our honor and respect, no matter what the culture says. Dressing modestly is something you will never regret."
8. Do you have a role model for dressing modestly? If so, who?
"I have done research and have not found very many bloggers who value both modesty and style. It's just a hard category that most people don't know how to fulfill. That is where I want to jump in and tell Christian girls that modesty is a beautiful and awesome thing. My blog (hellomodesty.com) is a place for girls to get inspired and encouraged to dress modestly, even when the culture says otherwise."
I hope y'all enjoyed reading that as much as I enjoyed interviewing her!
I posted a picture on my Instagram this past week inviting my followers to ask me questions for a Q & A (question and answer). I thought it would be a fun way for you all to get to know me better, and I also just though it would be fun to answer the questions ;)
So, here are the questions along with who asked it and my answers!
1. Favorite food?
Well, anything Mexican and brownies are my absolute favorite foods!
2. Favorite TV show?
Fun fact: my family and I don't have cable. But when I do get to watch tv, I love Bringing Up Bates and cooking shows!
3. Fav Bible verse??
My favorite Bible verse is a toss up between Isaiah 41:10 and Proverbs 3:5-6. They each speak to me differently and help me in different areas of my life!
4. Why did you start this account?
I actually didn't start my Instagram account, but volunteered to be a co-owner when the owner, Madeline, needed one. I am now the owner of Simply Loving Jesus, and it has changed my life more than I ever could have imagined! I've met some amazing people and have grown in my faith by writing devotionals and planning posts.
5. Where are ya from?
I am from North Carolina!
6. Are you a Christian? If so how did you become one?
I am a Christian! I confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in my heart that God rose from the dead when I was 4. (Romans 10:9) I was listening to a children's Christian music CD with my mom and she taught me how to pray.
7. Favorite book?
Umm, at the moment it's probably "Looking for Lovely" by Annie F. Downs!
8. Favorite book in the Bible?
1 Peter :)
9. Favorite season?
Probably summer, but I also love fall!
10. When did you get baptized?
I was baptized when I was 9!
11. How has your summer been?
Amazing, thanks for asking!
12. What are your summer plans?
Working and spending time with friends and family!
13. Are you a Sadie Robertson fan? If so are you going to her tour this fall?
I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of Sadie, but I love her love for Jesus! I do not plan on going to her tour.
14. Do you prefer chicken in strip or nugget form?
15. Are you going to Sadie Robertson's tour this fall?
As I mentioned earlier, I don't plan on it :)
16. How old are you?
I am 16 years old!
17. What denomination are you?
I am a Southern Baptist, but I don't think denominations define you as a Christian. A Christian is a Christian. As long as the church goes by God's Word completely, without adding or changing anything, or twisting it, you're good! And I believe my church does that well.
18. What's your favorite part of your church's service?
Hmm, probably the worship time!
19. What is your dream job?
A teacher :) I've wanted to be a teacher since I was in kindergarten.
Well, there ya go! I hope you learned a little more about me. Now, tell me about yourself! Maybe comment 5 random facts? I love connecting with y'all! And also, comment below any other questions you have for me, and I'll comment back with the answer.
