Hello Lovely People! Can you believe that today is January 1st, 2018! Boy, I sure can't!
I thought we could start the year with a series on ways to study the Bible, how to journal, and different ways to memories verses, why?
1. because I struggled finding what I liked for the longest time.
2. I want to help you
3. I would LOVE to hear how you do it
Don't forget to comment and share YOUR favorite study tips.

For the longest time I couldn't find a highlighting "system" that I liked. I wanted to use color and I wanted verses to be colored because lets be honest I am a little bit of an organization freak. Anyways, after days, weeks, and months of trying to find something that was simple, and easy I came across Jordan Dooley's YouTube channel with a video on how she highlights and studies hers. I was all in. And I love it. Each color points to something different.
Blue: is the reference of a commentary or foot notes. Pink: Is something I need to do, like a commandment, how to spur someone on etc. Yellow: highlights part of that verse that standout to me, or something that WOWs me! I also use sticky notes so that if i don't have enough room on the page I can write it longer. This method works best with a journaling bible, but can be done with a normal Bible. You will just need to use more sticky notes. Here is the link to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=743Uu-HExio
Emma Mae Jenkins is one of my favorite bloggers, YouTubers, and encourages. I watched one of her video called "Practical Ways to Study God's Word." She challenges you to pick ONE verse doesn't have to be long, and study it for a week. For instance "The Lord is my shepard, I lack nothing." Psalms 23:1 Its eight words. Then when you wake up in the morning before you get out of bed "The Lord is my shepard, I lake nothing." When you are getting ready for school "The Lord is my Shepard, I lack nothing." During class, in the hall, at lunch "The Lord is My Shepard, I lack nothing." All through your day you say it. You can write it on note cards and stick them EVERYWHERE! By the end of the week you will learn a new verse. I challenge you to pick a verse. If I you choose a longer verse maybe take two weeks to learn it instead of a week.
What is one way you study the Bible? Share in the comments with me!
Wow, can you believe that 2018 is only a few hours away? I feel like we just started 2017. This year feels like it just went by in the blink of an eye? Does it feel that way to you? I am so excited to step in to a new year filled with a fresh start, new adventures and endless possibilities and opportunities.
I am SUPER excited to share with y'all the things I am trying for this year. Remember that it's NEVER to late to try something. Hope you enjoy!
Isn't it so easy to believe lies from the devil? I spent sometime this past year believing the lies from the devil, "I am not beautiful, not good enough, not as faith filled, and not as adventurous as others." I would look at people's Instagram profiles and say I am not as beautiful as them, or have numerous friends that travel the world (which I want to do). I would tell myself that I can't got to those places because "I don't have the money for that."
So I decided it was time to change my thinking because One, "Jesus made me fearfully and wonderfully made in his image." 2nd with a little saving, hard work, and putting forth an effort, I could travel in the places I desire to adventure. I created the board pictured below with the main things I am tell myself this year. I am choosing to speak them over my life in 2018. Telling myself, "I am beautiful, adventurous, faithful, a dreamer etc" I am choosing to step into the person that God created me to be. I hung this cork board next to my bed so that every morning and evening I can remind myself who Jesus made me to be.
In addition to my board, in April 2017 I was watching a live video with @jasistylee . She makes a memory jar with a mason jar and sticky notes! I started this right away. This jar sits on my night stand with a pack of sticky notes. Each night I write down a few things from the day that I am thankful or something that was my favorite part of the day (maybe I got a text from a friend, a boy, I get a 100% on a test, or a funny moment etc) and then I fold the sticky note placing it in the jar. Then I read them all New Years Eve. I am super excited to do this again. This is SO fun.
Remember that its never too late to put something into action. If you like these ideas I highly recommend trying these things. I also have a few goals of things that I'd like to do in the year of 2018. I pray that you would have a blessed 2018!
Hey Lovely People! I want to share with you what I got for Christmas because I thought it would be fun!
Don't to leave in the comments what you got for Christmas! I LOVE to hear from y'all!
Most of these gift we're from my parent with the exception of a few.
Sweater- I really wanted a sweater that pulled over my head that would go with jeans and some boots.
Makeup Brushes- I actually got 2 sets of new makeup brushes. One from my cousin and one from my sister
Watch- This watch is super cute! The band is creamy gray and goes with everything.
White Makeup Bag- I got this from my cousin in our gift exchange. It's from MaryKay and holds a lot.
Calendar- Because life without a paper calendar gets to be very dis-organized. Not only does my calendar contain all the day to day business but it's one more place to mark and keep track of goals.
I didn't even have a suitcase in mind when my parents asked me what I wanted for Christmas! But I am super excited to take this on all my new adventures. It came with this awesome (what I think is a) laptop case. And considered a carry on which means I won't have to check my bags!
I would LOVE to hear what you got for Christmas! What was your favorite gift(s)?
This is the beautiful Hannah! Hannah is the beautiful face behind @thedifferentgirl . Today she is sharing her story about overcoming mental health with Jesus. Enjoy!
Hi I’m Hannah and I have mental health issues. Yes I did just straight out tell you that-no not because I want you to feel sorry for me but because these issues are not only my struggle.
You see I needed to share that first because it isn’t a part of my story that should be hidden. Maybe reading this you know me really well or you’ve never heard of me, I’m writing this to the person who feels your mental health struggles should be a hidden part of your story.
Some days I can wake up and wish I hadn’t opened my eyes, others days I could scroll through Instagram and play the comparison game, another day I could be obsessing over the fact that I didn’t turn the stove off.
Just because all this happens in my head doesn’t make it any less real.
And that's exactly why you think you can hide it right?!-because it's in your mind. Let me tell you you’re wrong, the all knowing powerful creator sees it all and he knows your story even before you knew it.
That means you can live bravely even when you know your mind is all over the place.
That fact gives you the freedom to live and thrive with your mental health issues and not let them define your story
I believe mental health is just as important as physical health because it's very real.
So walk in the freedom that is found in acknowledging the realness of it and the fact that it belongs to Jesus.
Use this part of your story as a way to display God’s strength.
You can come out of the dark and into the light because there is always hope with Jesus.
Just know I get you, you are not alone.
Much love and don’t forget to smile along the way.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but I think we can all agree, it’s also the most chaotic. School is hectic enough with end-of-the-semester exams and report cards, but then you add on new Christmas movies to watch, presents to buy, family gatherings, events at the church, Christmas parties, shall I go on? We have so so much going on during the holidays that we tend to lose sight of what really matters. We get so caught up in everything that is the norm for Christmas Time that we are forgetful of Jesus Time. We must fix that.
My clothes seem to always get done in the drier at the most inconvenient time. I seem to have to carry all of the clothes plus my phone, headphones, books, a backpack, and notebooks. See, just carrying one of these items would be a piece of cake, but all of them at once is a handful. When we try to balance a ton of stuff at once, we start dropping things without even noticing. We do this throughout the year, but the most common time is at Christmas. If we would lighten our load, it would be so much easier to focus on what really matters.
I’m currently in the process of writing something super special for Christmas. As I sit at my desk to write, I tend to forget my reason for writing Christmas-related devotions, which correlates with forgetting why we celebrate Christmas. On the side of my desk, I have a small JOY figurine with Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in front. Whenever my mind wanders off topic or I get distracted, I look at my little figure and it gives me the motivation to continue. Your motivation may be something totally different than that. You may need to keep helpful, uplifting reminders on your phone or write messages on post-it notes. I also try to read my Bible every morning. It starts me off with a fresh set of eyes and a purpose-driven mind.
I start celebrating Christmas right after Thanksgiving. This year I didn’t feel right putting up decorations or watching Christmas movies until then, but what makes the “Christmas Message,” a proclamation of the love God has for us, any different in December than in June? The birth of Jesus cannot be a story that is only told on Christmas. Jesus is to be celebrated all the time. We should live a life of worship and devotion to Him. Our whole life should be a celebration of Christmas. When we live our life like that, there is no way we will get too caught up in the present wrapping to spend time with Jesus.
You’re going to get busy, but you are going to have to set aside time to think. Make time to sit down and read the story of Jesus’s birth. Make time to pray when you could be watching Netflix. Make time to spread joy when all you see is hate. Live like every single day is Christmas.
